When I am feeling down over the things of life, I watch Britain’s Got Talent, for inspiration that the gifts that God has given to individuals the world around, is noticed in time.
I don’t know if any of you out there even care for Susan Boyle’s singing, but that does not really bother me. It is the fact that up until the show Britain’s Got Talent, Susan Boyle was a nobody, just a woman in a small Scottish town eaking out a living and trying to make ends meet.
God had given and blessed her with a special talent, one day to be discovered, and that she was. Like Susan I had hopes and dreams, albeit what I do is nothing like Susan’s Voice, I thank God that she was able to have the world discover her and her art and gift.
See sometimes even poor people can move forward with their gifts and other times they are dashed into the ground because of lack of income and wealth. All I wanted to do is weave the baskets that God gave me the gift to do, however for some like myself the lack of wealth and income, is frowned upon in the world, it does not matter how long you have struggled in life to get ahead, how good you are at what you do. If you are poor, without income, you get nowhere in life.
I drawn inspiration from Susan’s success, as she was pulled from obscurity and was able to make something of herself. For me much the opposite right now. As I am being forced to give up what I do and get rid of everything just because I am poor, not in talent, but in monetary value. Yes I am saddened to just throw away 20-25 years of work and effort in basketry, seat weaving and chair caning, knowing once it all is gone it will Never return again. I am sure that God in his wisdom, when he gave me the gift of what I do, knew this day would come. Apparently to the people around me my gift of art was not good enough to continue.
However I draw inspiration from people like Susan Boyle (the unknown, invisible people of the world that they have even at mid life been able to be someone. I am so happy for them that in midlife theirs is just starting.
See for me I believe the lesson to be learned is when things seem too good to be true, they usually are. I have always been trusting of people, I have learned from my experience talk is cheap, and have lost the trust I had in people, over the past several years. Oh there have been good people with good words and actions, however there have been others that talk the talk but do not walk the walk.
No my problem pure and simple is that I am too poor to get anywhere except being poor.
So this morning I needed to uplifted by those have have been able to overcome the odds and make something of their lives and the talents that God has given them. So I have come to Susan and listened to her to try and find some form of inspiration to move forward (in mid life) not backwards.
