Perseverance in the Face of Adversity

So many times in life, it is just so hard to persevere, keep going when people say all manners of things against you, against what you do, how you do it and how you live your life that God gave us all to live. Yet if they would look in a mirror what would they see? Probably nothing, because usually those that judge others are blind to their own short comings in life, and can only find happiness for themselves in picking out everyone else’s.

It is sad when others try to place people into the molds of life that they think everyone should be able to live and work in. Each person has a spirit or soul, that is as free and unique to that individual as a finger print is to them. I get so tired of people trying to make a mold for everyone to fit in, not seeing them fro their own uniqueness in the world.

Thinking on this day I came to the poem by Maya Angelou, that speaks volumes for the overall human condition all around the world and to individuals everywhere!

Perseverance in the Face of Adversity, which seems we all go through, however sometimes it is through this need for people to want to control or dominate other people that makes persevering so difficult , . I know I have had this in my life, people don’t want to ask you what you need, they just seek to impose their thoughts and ideas onto you hoping they will work and they seldom do. If they were in the same situation you were in, they 9 times out of 10 would not like it any more than you do. for me …………PERSEVERANCE!

Maya Angelou – Wikipedia

Still I Rise

You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may trod me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I’ll rise.

Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
‘Cause I walk like I’ve got oil wells
Pumping in my living room.

Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I’ll rise.

Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops.
Weakened by my soulful cries.

Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don’t you take it awful hard
‘Cause I laugh like I’ve got gold mines
Diggin’ in my own back yard.

You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I’ll rise.

Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I’ve got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?

Out of the huts of history’s shame
I rise
Up from a past that’s rooted in pain
I rise
I’m a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
I rise
Into a daybreak that’s wondrously clear
I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
I rise
I rise
I rise.
